Our "Why"
Since my son was born, he has suffered from severe exczema on his hands. This constant itchiness led to scratching, which resulted in bleeding, scabbed hands.
We tried the over-the-counter cures, the itch relievers, the moisturizing lotions, and the soothing creams. Multiple dermatologists with multiple prescription ointments could not stop the itching or cure his cracked, bleeding hands.
Finally, we found a cure: tallow balm. Alone, it was helping, and when paired with a separate calendula balm (and wearing cotton gloves overnight), his hands began improving.
I realized that combining the healing powers of beef tallow & calendula could create an incredible skin balm. Countless iterations and nights of experimentation later, our "Double-Barreled" Tallow & Calendula Balm was ready.
After a few days of consistent use, my son's hands- which had been cracked, scabbed, and bloody for 3+ years- were almost entirely healed.
Seeing his finally healthy skin, his kindergarten friends no longer asking him why his "hands are weird"- this is the "why" behind Standard Tallow Co.
Standard Tallow Co. was founded to create the highest quality tallow balms ever produced.
Our beef is sourced from local butchers & ranchers. Unlike other tallow balm manufacturers, we don't use 'mystery meat' pre-rendered tallow from a plastic bucket: we render 100% of our beef tallow in-house.
Before it's ready for your skin, it goes through multiple purification stages to ensure imperfections and any trace of beef smell are removed.
We only use local, natural wildflower honey from nearby farms, and food-grade essential oils that are safe to eat- so they're safe for your skin, too.
All of our tallow balm ingredients are USA-sourced. Our balms are handcrafted in Washington State, USA.
When you buy our products, you're supporting local butchers, ranchers, beekeepers, and the rest of our More importantly, you're supporting your own health and well-being.
